Ambassador Daniel Hunn is Switzerland’s representative in Addis Ababa since August 2017.
Previously, he was serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington, D.C., where he also leads the Embassy‘s political and legal team.
From 2009 to 2013, Daniel Hunn served as deputy chief of the Americas Division at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern, and from 2006 to 2009 as head of the economic affairs and science team at the Embassy of Switzerland in Moscow, Russia.
Since joining the Swiss Foreign Service in 1994, Daniel Hunn had assignments as Deputy Consul General in New York City, USA; Deputy Chief of Mission in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; and desk officer for Central and Eastern Europe at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern. His first overseas posting was in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Prior to joining the Swiss Foreign Service, Daniel Hunn worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on missions in Sri Lanka, Angola, and Mali, and with the Swiss Federal Department of Defense as a staff officer to the Minister of Defense.
Daniel Hunn earned a master’s degree in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Geneva. He attained the rank of Captain and commanded an infantry company during his compulsory military service in the Swiss Army
